School Dayz

Ok... Just an update for friends and family. You know that since we have moved to Dumfries we have been knocking around the idea of sending Noah to Swans Creek Elementary School. Swans Creek is very near our home and is the School where our Church meets each Sunday. This move was unpopular with Noah but gave him classes and learning opportunities that he doesn't have at home. A few weeks ago we were on the brink of deciding to send him to school at Swans Creek when a friend came to see me about the decision. His words convinced us to reconsider our decision. He bragged on the job we are doing as parents and on the kids we are raising and reassured us that we are doing what is very best for him. The conversation gave us a lot of courage to continue on. So, through prayer and a lot of discussion we have decided to continue to home school Noah. Here are a few of my thoughts related to this:

  • Noah is a great kid. He is smart, funny, and at this stage in his life fears and honors the Lord.
  • Jennifer is an amazing mother. She consistently makes decisions that are for the good of our family with little consideration about how comfortable the decision will be for her.
  • Friends and family are valuable. Not everyone has friends and family that love you so much that they are willing to lovingly confront them when they believe they're wrong. Jennifer and I want to make the best possible decisions for our kids but likely wouldn't have had the confidence to continue homeschooling had it not been for for our friends.
On a side note, Noah took the SAT's recently and placed above grade level. I am really proud of both he and Jennifer. So another year of homeschooling awaits! Here we go!
